my buddy is checking in some of his parts for his 70 mustang to see if he has a knob/rod i can try.
if he cant find it i might order the new rod and knob first, then the switch.
I will follow up on the progress.

So after a few weeks I finally got back to my headlight switch. I bought a new switch and new shaft. installed it and after a slight push up on the switch I heard the click and a smile popped on my face.
hooked my battery backup and turned my lights on again Wink   but my battery crapped out and now i need to get a new one Shock its 6 years old sooo cant complain.

so lesson learned make sure the switch and shaft are from the same manufacturer and you wont have an issue, at least for me that was the case.

Good Deal ! Glad to hear you got it fixed. With so many different parts manufactures these days, quality control is sometimes lacking. It doesn't taken much variance on tolerances to make a part that doesn't fit, or work correctly. That's why most of the "China Junk" needs to be avoided. when keeping up our old cars. Problems can be had from any manufacturer, but the China Junk is the worst.  Naughty  Besides we are Americans and we need to buy American!  Just my thoughts.

Glad to hear it's fixed.

Yes China parts are junk.  Sickening, most all auto parts today are from China.

Buying American is getting tough nowadays.  It is either made in China or Mexico.  And watch out once the tariffs kick in on Mexico. everything will be more expensive!

C'mon Mustangmike, imported parts 'grinds-my-gears' and I'm sure many others here as well, doesn't it bother you?  Besides, I certainly haven't seen low prices on imported parts, only low quality.  I don't know if the low quality can be related to the workers manufacturing the parts, or, it's entire way of manufacturing, push workers hard and pay very little to reduce overhead.

Imports grind my gears too.  I would take a quality USA made part any day over an import. At least I can say for my Mustang and Fairlane that they are all original ford body parts except my fiberglass hood.  If I had to do another car don't think I would be as lucky. I bet I would be buying aftermarket metal from China.

I didnt pay attention on the first switch on where it came from, this time i bought both Scott Drake reproductions.
It says they are in Nevada, but they could buy from some place else and put it together here and say its made in USA.
I try to buy as much Made in the USA as possible, sometimes its difficult.
