How to Remove Transmission Fluid Stains from Your Driveway
Transmission fluid spills or leaks may leave a bright red stain on light-colored concrete. Here are some suggested steps for removing the stain

  1. Spray the stain with oven cleaner and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Use a stiff brush to scrub the spot and rinse with a hose at its highest pressure.
  3. If the stain is still there repeat the process.

How to Remove Gasoline Stains from Your Driveway
Spilled gasoline not only leaves stains on your paved driveway; the marks are likely accompanied by an odor you’ll want to neutralize.

  1. Put on protective gloves and goggles.
  2. Soak a fresh gas spill with cat litter, baking soda or commercial absorbents.
  3. Sweep the soiled litter or absorbent into a coffee can with a lid. Talk to your local fire department about how to properly dispose of it.
  4. Scrub the stain with a mixture of dishwasher liquid and water. Let it soak in for a few minutes before rinsing with a hose.
  5. If that doesn’t take care of the problem, Good Housekeeping suggests buying trisodium phosphate from a hardware store, mixing it with warm water and scrubbing the spill with the solution until the stain lightens.
Those spilled fluids may be unsightly, but they may not be permanent.

The cheap aeresol Carb and choke cleaner, (Wal mart $1.97 a can) will remove even old stains from concrete. Soak the area liberally or if the stain is large soak a old shop rag with the Carb cleaner. Wear gloves as this stuff will definitely burn your skin. Then scrub the stain with a brush or the soaked rag, it wont take long, and the stain will be gone. Don't use on asphalt as the carb cleaner will disolve the asphalt.
The carb cleaner also works great as a wasp killer. Using the straw, get close enough to hit the wasp directly, if you score a direct hit the wasp will drop to the ground wiggle for a bit, and die. If you find a nest, get close enough to spray as many as you can then RUN !!! wait a couple minutes and hit them again. Use a little common sense, and be sure you have a clear escape path. With a little practice you'll get the hang of it. The stuff drops them 10 times quicker then the best wasp killer, and is about a 1/3 of the price.
PS if your allergic to Wasps Don't Do It!!!

If the oil leaks are fresh my neighbor puts a big glob of waterless hand cleaner on them. Let it stand until the hand cleaner disappears in a few days then you may need to hose the residue away.    Dave R.

When I find odd tips I like to add them to the site because it helps me remember some of them also. The only difference I always use hot scalding water whenever possible.

I tend to use JTS71 Mach 1's method.  Carb cleaner or brake cleaner on small oil spots when they are fresh.   On larger spots, first solvent, then follow up with acetone. I've also used acetone on older stains. It tends to "bleach" them out a bit. These methods are on a concrete driveway, not asphalt.

I have used brake cleaner to kill a huge bumble bee that wouldn't leave my garage. Worked great but instantly removed the paint from the window sill.

Yeah you kinda have to be careful what you spray it on!

I use different things on different stains, carb cleaners can be petroleum based and that seals in the oil stain.
I use dawn and scrub, then oven cleaner and a steel wire brush and its usually gone, if not one more treatment and my driveway spot I cleaned looks brand new, sometimes there's a little stain that will fade in the sun or a little spray of peroxide over it.
There are many ways to clean Crazy
