Center console install
#1
Bought my 72 Mach 1 last fall and the center console wasn't attached all the way.  Trying to reinstall it and having difficulty hae the holes line up.  I poked through the carpet from the bottom up to locate the holes.  I can get the screws in on the drivers side, but the console sits about a quarter of an inch high on the passenger side to line up with the factory holes.
Looking for your thoughts and tips on install.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

SCo_hmmthink  Three thoughts come to mind. 1 it could be a different console then original? 2 some times plastics warp or shrink over time. If it was bolted down from the factory, and then removed and stored then it is completely possible it has become misshapen due to aging of the plastic itself.  3 one other thought is if you have installed new carpet, it is completely possible the thickness is different and causing the console not to match up with the holes. It shouldn't be to big an issue to set the console in place and simply drill new holes to mount the console so it fits the best it can.  Huh  Hope it helps.

Sorry, I am new here and aside from what was stated, maybe the driver's side screws are too tight and pulling the console in to far?
How about longer screws on each side and tighten them down like you would a wheel. Alternating and only half way till you get it to sit the way you want.
If the screws are oversize, mark the extra length and use screws that meet the desired length. Or just cut them
