Hello fellow Mach 1 owners.
Just wanted to say hi and give you a brief intro.
My name is Norm, I live in Ontario Canada, married with two mature kids. I just purchased my first Mustang and with a lot of finagling I managed to snag a Mach 1 in Fighter Jet Grey with the Handling Package. I absolutely love the car, the sound, the presence and the power, power is ok for now. Plus the few Mustang people I've talked to seem very nice and welcoming.
How I got this thing....
Last may I ordered a loaded Mustang GT that was going to Roush to get their stage 3 done to it. My dealer introduced me to the SC Mustang GT when I stopped in to pick up a new F150 for one of my managers. Sales guy said let me take you for a ride in a 750hp Mustang, heck ya I'm into that. This was just a GT that the dealer put a Roush SC and X pipe on, well holly man what a beast I'd never been in something so fast or fun to drive. It was actually the sound that hooked me. A week later I decided to order a Stage 3 Roush GT with an X pipe. Last week I called in for an update and Ford hasn't even assigned a VIN or moved it from Order received status. I was majorly bummed as I knew at this rate I wouldn't see the thing until December and by then I'll have 2' of snow to deal with which really meant I wouldn't get to drive it until some time in March 2022 after the snow melted.
Two day's later I find out they have a "used" 2021 Mach 1 in Fighter Jet Grey with the Handling Package, which is exactly how I would have specked it, the grey, black, orange combo is freaking awesome. I called my guy and asked what the deal was. This car they sold back in May, it had the Recaro Seat option and apparently the first owner absolutely hatted them and traded the car back in with 591km (Canada). Not sure about the US but this car is crazy rare in Canada only 10% of the top dealers in Canada were allotted 1 Mach 1 car with this speck and not all of those were in Fighter Jet Grey. The dealer had this one listed for $16K over MSRP in it's USED state....holly man, I wasn't a fan of the Recaro but I fit and I could fight my way in and out of the car with some effort. Well I was going to buy it today but I thought just before I do let me check Autotrader again, to my surprise a brand new Mach 1 just like the one I test drove on the weekend got posted at a large Toronto dealer but with the regular leather seats. I called right away, apparently the dealership was getting lots of calls and they had a guy coming in to look at it. I told them I'd take it and could put a deposit on it right away, nope, had to wait to see what the first guy was going to say, I respect that. They asked me to wait 4 hr and they would call me back. Boy that sucked.... I get a call 2.5hr later from the dealer and they said I could have it if I wanted it. So I snagged it with 33km on it with the seats I wanted and only $9K over MSRP.... I buy a lot of vehicles and I've never paid more then MSRP on any of them until now, it's a bizarre feeling. I plan on keeping this a long time so I rationalized doing it due to how rare the car will be.
Anyhow, that's my story, look forward to all the wisdom these forums have and the Whipple SC that I'll be adding over the winter...;)
