This entire thread is a bit confusing. The only thing I can think of, is without the tach in series with the original resistor wire going to the + side of the coil, the tach may not last very long as now more current will be passing through it than originally intended. The increased current might eventually damage the primary side of the isolation transformer inside the tachometer.

I wondered about that too. For now I have the old resistor wire that went to the positive side of the coil not connected to anything. Do I need to reconnect it again along with the new wire I just ran to supply 12v to the coil?

Ok I spoke to the MSD tech support and it seems I have I correct. From the back of my 2 wire tach I spliced a 10g wire into the pink resistor wire coming out the tach that went to the +side of coil. That new wire supplies my 12v needed and goes to +side of the coil. The old pink wire now is no longer needed. And there is no need for the tach adapter or the gray tach wire from the new run ready distributor. Hopefully this is correct after all and nothing fries…
