Nice article.
There is one more step that I would recommend as I do it to my boats Mercruiser inboard/outboard engine every fall to store for the winter; that is FOGGING the engine. This is a recommended procedure in the Mercruiser manual. With the engine running at idle pour a lightweight oil such as Marvel Mystery Oil slowly into the carburetor. When you see blue smoke from the tailpipe pour faster until the engine dies. Now you engine is fogged and ready for storage. When you start the engine next spring it will smoke lightly for about a minute.
I've been doing this every fall to my V6 Mercruiser Engine that I bought new in 1990. It's still running strong even after 20 years!
