Where we are Headed
#1
First- let me say your mileage may vary, and I'm no political scientist. Just a guy who enjoys his freedoms.

Left Wing = Communism - The Whole decides what is best for the individual and the government becomes the biggest entity in commerce and society.

Center Left = Socialism - The government is still the biggest entity in society, Individuals express more freedom than above but taxes and social services are still more important than individual freedoms.

Center = Republic - The government is balanced between social needs and individual freedoms. Private industry is larger than government and elements of left and right are constantly pushing against each other as individuals express disputes with the masses.

Center Right - Democratic Republic - The Individuals needs are more important than the whole. Freedoms are valued above government money and success. Private industry is the primary economic factor and there is much less expense in regulating it as regulations are pretty basic. The rights of the individual are highly regarded and defended.

Far Right = Libertarian Democracy. Government's role in society is very small. Individuals are largely free to choose what is acceptable. Government is rarely involved in your everyday life.

So, you can see which way our country is tending. Only the general public has the power to really change how we choose to live as a society. Many factors influence our political views, some of which are more important than the political views themselves. But "if" you wish to preserve individualism you can get a good jump on it by being responsible in your own actions, speech, and general living policies. Otherwise the "whole" tends to view you as a threat and try to regulate you or restrain you in some way.

Self Government is the key.. and that takes common sense and self control, which may be hard to come by these days.

This is the most intelligent way I've ever heard this put. Point Taken.
