Valley pan fitment?
#1
Hi all,
The 2v I bought is not what it seems, the 4 barrel Holley is sitting on a "351Boss unique part" intake according to the casting numbers and a web site I've found and now that I've finally looked the heads are 4v ones.
I had the oil pan off last week and it is a 2 bolt block with an H code part Vin on it, but not the Vin of the car sadly Confused

My question is as I ordered lots of bits from the US I now have a Felpro intake and valley pan kit for a 2v but will the valley pan fit as I assume it fit's to the block and not the heads?

All parts are 2 or 3 times the price here so I bought lots of bits some of which fit and some don't but I can't send them back as the postage can be 3 or 4 times the value of the part.
I've now fitted new UCA's and LCA's with Hotkins progressive springs ( it's now about 1/2" to ! 1" lower) new track rod arms and a new idler arm have been fitted and have just rebuilt the control valve and steering pump but am having trouble getting the ram seals in ( first ones from NPD seemed the wrong size) but have ordered a Gates set from a UK company at approx 6 times the Rockauto price!!
I laid on my back for an hour the other day and fitted a new oil pan ( while the centre link was off) difficult job as the rubber half seals at each end didn't fit the new pan very well ( Felpro again) I think it's the pan shape (NPD blue painted) the ends were "too shallow" so I'm expecting it too leak!

If anyone can help with the Valley question then I might only have to buy the intake gaskets  Wink

As I remember the valley pan also went up the heads and around the intake ports. If it does they will not fit as the 4 barrel ports are much larger then the 2 barrel.  I don't remember a separate pan to cover just the valley. I had both a 2 barrel and 4 barrel engines. The actual difference is the heads, as the block is the same either way. Also I know there were 4 bolt mains but I've never seen one. My 351C was 500 Hp. and lived at 8000 rpm, with 2 bolt mains for all 6 years I owned it. After I traded it for a pickup truck. It ended up in a Mercury Marquis, and I lost track of it. But the 2 bolt block is way tougher then it needs to be. Hope it helps

Hi, sorry I've not got back sooner, I've replaced all the front suspension and the steering apart from the box and the control valve I refurbished has a very small leak ( piston was fine, no scores etc) which is very annoying.
I've also put amber / white LED's into the back up lights to get over the " no red flashing lights " on a car here.
The LED bulbs I put in the taillights also look a lot brighter than standard and want to change the interior quarter light bulbs when I can ( they seem to burn the original lenses).
I have to get the toe in and camber set but not many people do American cars here and most of my local ones will " give it a go" which isn't what I want, I've got the toe in to a "driveable setting" so might wait for a mobile specialist who can only get to me early in June.

As you probably know V8's are not common in the UK ( and never have been) so every time I start it up I smile  Wink

Cheers
Jeff
