Hello to all, I was glad to find your site for mach 1's. As I just purchased my second one a very RUFF 72. As my user name implies my first was a 71 mach 1 in which I had installed a 351c that was roughly 500 horsepower. A friend of a friend knew this guy who had the engine and all the parts still disassembled and in the boxes. He gave me a stack of reciepts totaling just over $2500.00 for all the block work & parts plus a 73 parts car. All this for $200.00 bucks. What can I say the junkie needed his dope. We both came away satisfied. But I'll bet my thrill lasted longer! This all happened in 1978, that 2500.00 would be closer to 10,000 worth nowadays. So yeah my first mach1 was BADDDD! But like most of us life, wife, and kids happened and I traded it for a 67 Ranchero because I needed a pickup truck. Remember this all happened in the early 80's. So my 71 was still considered the bastard child by mustang enthusiasts. It's value was almost non existent. Little did I know that some 30 years later the value would get to the point that what I wouldn't have paid 50.00 bucks for is now selling on ebay for 2 3 & even 4 thousand dollars. It's ridiculous what some people will give for junk! My 72 is RUFF, but solid in all the critical places so it'll make a great hot rod. And with only $440.00 in it I don't feel to bad. Damn Barrett Jackson and all the Trailer Queens. As Carroll Shelby put it Hell we didn't build these cars to be museum pieces! We built them to drive the Hell out of them!
