So I have a 71 mach 1 that is a family heirloom that is now mine. Rear pinion is leaking so I pulling the old one. Unfortunately the rear yoke will not come off. Air hammer, puller and BFH hasn't worked at all. There's a funny "hole" on the side of the yoke too. Could this be holding it on? Im about at my wits end. Any help is appreciated. Trying to figure out how to post a pic too
Well the yoke finally came off. Never had one that fought me this much. I still would like to know how to post pics though. I'm doing quite a bit to the car now. Thanks!
Jackwagon3 Now that's an unusual Screen name. How in the world did you get that? Everytime I heard someone call me a Jack Wagon it wasn't exactly a compliment. LOL! The yoke can be darn stubborn. Most usually a T bar puller set across the yoke, and held by the ubolts, is a good way to get one off. I had to do this, and put a lot of tension on the T bar, then smack it several times with a large hammer, and keep tightening the T bar, until eventually it came off. Good Luck I wish I could help with the pictures it may have to be resized to a smaller size that's the issue I usually have when it won't let me post pictures.
Well jackwagon comes from my dads and my cancer foundation we had. He had brain and i had colon. So we shaved our heads together and he looked just like R Lee Ermey from full metal jacket. And there was a funny commercial years ago with him as a therapist where he said "take your feelings to namby pamby land you jackwagon". Of course I had to tell him he looked just like him. So it stuck and thats what we named our foundation. Well he has since passed and now the car is mine. Been waiting 30 years for it. Would much rather have him but at least he's with me each time i drive the jackwagon. Of course we named the car that too. Lol.
Understand completely, I lost my Dad in 1990. I'd give anything 10 times over, just to have him back. It was 7 to 8 years after, and I was still dialing half the numbers before I'd realize, He ain't gonna answer the phone. I got his 87 Ranger, and I cherish it.
Now back to the Mach1, What condition is it, and what's it got in it?
Man I wish I could post pics...Well it's a 351C with 2v heads. The motor is strong as hell and had a 4 barrel carb put on with new intake. 3 speed automatic (for now...). Pretty much all original and matching numbers. Been painted once.
