On my 71 Mach one, having some fueling problems, had a fuel filter plugging up so thinking I may have issues in the tank and was pricing them and everyplace shows a top mount hole for the sending unit and mine that is in the car is on the drivers side. Which one is right and what is the best one to go? Thanks

The 71 to 73 tank has a total of 3 holes in it. The filler neck is on top, and to the rear of the tank. There is also a vent hole in the top of the tank, near the center. The sending unit goes into the tank, on the drivers side. It is an angled, and flat section, depressed into the drivers side of the tank. All 71-73 tanks are the same. Part #D1ZZ-9002-A Hope it helps.

Absolutely correct. When I first got my tank, I was trying to figure out how to get the sender into that top venting port JTS was talking about, but my buddy reeled me back in and told me to look at the old tank.
The insert for the vent is also not reproduced [yet] so anybody considering getting a new tank might want to hang onto the old one until everything's back together.
Here's a shot of mine while I was putting the underside back together. You can clearly see the sending unit poking out of the driver side (top of the pic):
Hope this helps!
