Fresh Motor
#1
Haven't been on for sometime, been busy with driving my trk and also, my winter project was to get the motor rebuilt.  I did get the motor rebuilt, didn't do anything too drastic.  It had to be bored 30 over, so got that done, new pistons, new intake(edelbrock Performer), new cam, lifters, valves, and actually heads.  The shop that did it found that the heads that was on this 71 351C, were actually 73 open chamber heads.  Fortunately, they had a set of 71's with the closed chambers and traded me so I could have the right heads.  We did match everything to get the most out of it and try to keep it as close to  stock as possible.   I am in the breaking in process and just about done with it, but these Nebraska winters are making it hard...lol  It really is running great and I am very pleased with it.  Now if some idiot tries to hole shot me at a stop light, I have something to let them know I do have a muscle car! Thumbup  Will try to get some pics on here of the motor, engine compartment, which we cleaned up and painted.  Being a daily driver and hope to make some car shows this year, I feel that this car will be competitive.

Good deal, that's a step in the right direction. Waiting to see the pics. Good Luck.

Good deal...I know the closed chamber heads are the more desirable heads.  You should pick up some additional compression with them.  I am looking forward to seeing some picks as well.

I know Nebraska is a big state but I lived in Douglas County in Omaha back in 1978.   You anywhere near there?

That's pretty close to Douglas County.  I lived in the middle of cornfields and now the fields have been replaced with houses.  Nice area.
