The cost & time for this wk long rally does keep many away. My wife and I use this as a vacation . But we have been blessed big time and both do well in our respective jobs . I am self employed , she is a tax assessor for 3 differant municipalities .
this was something I have been wanting to do for a very long time . Finally able to.
In the last pic I posted , you see a blue Chebby truck. This guy drove to Minn from mich also . But he had a lifter collapse on the engine when he hit the parking lot.
So that very afternoon he pulled the take off , pulled all the old lifters ,installed a new set of lifters and put it all back togeather for the 1000 mile wk long trip.
It was interesting , one guy working on the truck , 5 guys standing around watching , handing him tools and giving advise. With he clearly didn't need or want.
He said he just rebuilt the engine , so he didn't believe there was anything else wrong . Just a bad lifter.
Another guy with a 66 GTO , had a shifting issue . It would get hung up in low gear , this went on for 2 days before he brought it into a mechanics shop.
They found a loose shifter , transmission was loose at the bell housing and some other issues.
The mechanic got everything tightened up at no charge and he was fine there after .
The mechanic was a old car guy and he wanted to help. That's what's great about our hobby , there always someone who is willing to help.
