That is a new one for me.
It will be interesting to see the outcome.

That is a rare piece. It has a 1970 engineering number stamped on it. Are you certain that convertor came out of a car and not a big truck? Apparently they exist, but I have never seen an 8 lug torque convertor. And definitely not in a passenger car or light truck.

Yes I pulled it out of the mustang myself. It was actually an unmolested documented 1 owner car purchased from Rosen Novak Ford in Denver Colorado. Down side I cant remember the year of the car as back then I was buying them all the time-parting some out, using parts for my projects, fixing them up and re-selling them. I believe this was a 1972 mach 1. I thought DO=1971 but maybe I'm mistaken. Ive heard rumors of a 6 lug convertors of the same diameter but have never seen any of those. This is the 2 one I know of, 1 is mine the other was a buddies of mine. I was going to use it for a project but it never materialized. I thought if someone was building a car going for all the correct pieces I would sell it to them if interested- but I wanted to be fair to both of us.

I'm also going to get a better ( clearer picture) of the engineering number and dig out the flexplate and hopefully get a picture of a good number off it as well.

Have you tried your local trans specialist shops. They may be able to answer straight up.

1972 and 73 351 4V Q code mustangs had the smaller higher stall converter.
I need to look thru my stash - I know they were 10 inches
don't remember 8 studs though

I am a bitt confused because it has a 1970 engineering number on it. Tells me it used for something beginning in 1970. Maybe not a Mustang, but some other vehicle.
