Got my '72 Mach 1
#1
As requested here are a few pictures of the '72 Mach 1 I just picked up. The car comes with other stuff, but this is the base shell. Really rust free (or as I would consider) needs left lower quarter(maybe), tail panel(maybe) and left rear floor pan. It at one time had a right front hit and was stripped out of a junkyard. So.. front cross member both front aprons and a radiator support are in order. The NASA hood and a set of sprint fenders come with it. I traded a '68 Xr7 88K project complete(nice) for this and a 71" coupe 302 (close to complete) and drive train + parts out of a "73 cougar 351C convertible.

Saving her!

Included are a few pictures of my '68 GT/CS 390 and my older brothers boss from the past. The GT/CS was mint at one point but can't find a picture. I'll keep you posted on the '72 and of course will have questions. I'm clear on everything '67 and '68 but '71 and post need help. Thanks!

Thank you for the sharing the pictures. The 72 looks like a fun project and your 68 looks great. I always liked the coupes and it usually shows when someone has owned their car for a long time because the body lines and gaps always look great. It looks like the car is ready for paint. Are there plans to spray it, any time soon?

Looks like a fun project! I brought mine back from the point yours is at (and beyond) - you can do this! SSig_goodjob

Love the '68 as well (I'm one of those weirdos that actually prefers '68-and-older coupes to the fastbacks).

Well.. I wish I was going to spray it soon, but I"ll get there. Currently installing new battery apron and finishing out the engine compartment. I'm doing this car from the bottom up. The underneath is mint original. I'm really just painting over it. Check it out.

Eric, I spent about 2 hrs looking through the inspiring album of work you put together. Truly a labor of love. Many good reference photos there that I could not find elsewhere. So.. Thanks!

I do think this car is a walk in the park compared to yours.

Thanks Steven!

I'm in Prescott Arizona. Might you have any reasonable lines on a replacement front cross member in shown bent in my 4th picture?

Are you referring to the caster strut cross member or the cross member under the engine?

I have the caster strut member but I do not have a spare engine cross member.

yes sir, the caster strut.
Steven, this is the part I need. As you can see it is pulled off the frame rail.

Of all the pictures my favorite is the 390 FE engine with what looks like JBA headers. I've always liked the FE series engines.

I can only admire such projects. Nuts and bolts yes, but that much body to fix would be beyond me (OK, beyond my wallet).

I really hope it goes well for you.
