Yes I will add pictures. Started on the beast. Took out the engine, gearbox and rear axle in its cage (indi rear). Got my body guy in and it turns out my ugly parts car has a better body but worse paint. I got really sucked in there!
Still, its all part of the fun?
The rear brakes will get rebuilt while the unit is out for painting. I found something I had never seen before and it is factory. The hand (park) brake has brass return springs! If I had not seen it I would have told someone they were mistaken!
The plan is to use BMW front seats (they fit OK) and give the engine a little love (head off; sump off) and the rest of the drive-line a good service, clean and detail.
The parts car interior is a little sad but I shall pick the best from each.
Then it is just service and repair systems as required.

What's the possibility of building the parts car instead? Post some pictures of both cars...very curious to see.

Pictures:
The non rusty one - bad paint
Rusty write off - good paint
Engine and Gearbox out
Chassis rust rear left - There is lots more in the box sections
The one outdoors looks like poo but has a good structure. Once the pretty one is stripped it is off to the Daimler car park in the sky.

It's hard to believe the shiny one will become an appliance in someone's kitchen. But, I guess it makes sense as the faded one must have been exposed to a lot of sun and dry weather.
Anyways, I am not that familiar with Daimler's but it sure looks like a classy car. Thank you for sharing the pictures. Always interesting to see what other people are working on.

At first glance it resembles a late sixty's to early seventies Jaguar XJ series sedan. Not quite as curvy, but? Just an observation. JTS 71 Mach1

M1FF will have to educate us all but I believe that Daimler is/was an upscale trim level for Jaguar in it's years.
I am going to guess that we are looking at a early 1970's model with a Jaguar V-12.
Keep us posted on this build not that it is either a Mach 1 or nor a Mark 1 but very interesting none the same!

Ok Steven I 'll have to go with your assessment, as I had never heard of a Damiler, as a car by itself, I was thinking of Damiler as in Damiler/ Benz, which became Mercedes Benz. Are the 2 brands related or just happen to use the same name? Very interesting all the way around. JTS 71 Mach1

Daimler was a marque of its own, owned at one time by BSA Motorcycles.
The Daimler name was (eventually) bought by Jaguar who used it to badge a (slightly) more plush versions of the Mk10 and XJ6/XJ12 range of vehicles
I have a pair of Series 1 Daimler Sovereign(s) which is (more or less) a S1 XJ6.
The engine under my gantry is the twin OHC 4.2ltr I6 engine and the gearbox.
The faded paint one is (was) Signal Red and the darker one Regal Red. The darker rusty one was a farmer's vehicle (full of mud) and it lived on the coast (salt).
As an aside - early XJ6 & Sovereign's can be tow started even though they are automatics. They have a rear pump that will pressurize the clutch packs and allow a start - at 30mph.

Now I'm really confused, as I just noticed the spelling and I got it wrong. I've got the I in the wrong place. So does it have anything to do with the Damn Germans or not?
Just curious JTS 71 mach1

Wikipedia has a write up on both sides of the Daimler name (Jaguar and Benz).
So yes, the Daimler name applies to both, coming from the original owner Gottlieb Daimler.
Mercedes Benz is the mark of cars produced by the company Daimler Benz. And it only gets more confusing!
