I hate it when a yearly event gets cancelled. I've shown up expecting car shows, or races only to find out they had been cancelled for various reasons, and it's always a huge disappointment. Here's to 2017 JTS 71 Mach1

Steven H: Yep plenty to keep me busy there. Daimler now has tow bar (with relays again) photos to follow. The local council withdrew support. Cannot think why as the event is a massive boost to the local economy. Mustang - I have a cunning plan....
JTS71: This would have been year 3. Last year we got the national record set in front of me - 322kph in 1km from stationary. That car had 1300hp at the wheels and was driven to and from the meet.
I am really looking forward to the event next year.

BTW I am taking cars to the All British Car Day in a town called Gingin (north of Perth) this Sunday (15/05). I will take the Daimler and one of my MINIs. There will be photos, but not too many Mustangs will be there unless the VCC Mustang Section turns up - which they may do...

I for one will be looking forward to your post of tomorrow's event (today for you). Enjoy.

Gingin was OK. Saw the 'Usual crowd' and a newbie or two. Some people have stunning cars but don't drive them much. It's a car, not a paper weight!
As I guess you know I've been distracted but will be in touch.

I realize Australia's an Island/Continent. I was curious just how far across it is from east to west and north to south. I had some friends who Lived on the big Island of Hawaii, and they described it as "Not made for road trips". Being an Ex truck Driver, and it taking pretty much 3 full days to go east to west across the USA, I kinda like road trips! Lots to see people, places, mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers etc. I just wondered how big Australia was?

Not to steal M1FF punch but to answer your question. M1FF can correct my ignorance.

Australia covers 7,692,024 Sq Kilometers or 2,969,907 Sq Miles. The U.S. is 2,969,907 Sq. Mi.

Australia is the 6th largest country in total area. Covering 5% of the world's land area.

Australia is approximately 4,000 kilometers from east to west (2,486 miles) and approximately 3,200 kilometers from north to south (1,988 miles).

There are approximately 800,000 kilometers of roads in Australia of which less that 50% are sealed surface.

To add to the facts on Australia: Australia has the world's 13th largest economy and the 9th highest per capita income.

Steven, is it a coincidence the U.S. the exact sq. miles as Australia or is that a typo?

I am in Perth, Western Australia (as I guess you know).
In area Western Australia is the size of England, Scotland, Wales and the seven major islands of Japan. In the bit that is left you can easily fit Texas.
If WA was a country it would be in the top 10 economies world wide.
Driving: If you leave Perth and drive for eight hours a day at 80kph (50mph) - in any direction you choose - it is at least two days before you leave the state.
Rushing back to Racewars - The 2017 event will be in Albany (major town in the south of the state) in March.
I have already arranged leave and hired accommodation. The entries opened and closed while I was on nightshift so I missed out. I will still enjoy it though. I hope to drive my 4.4ltr X5 with the rebuilt engine down there - a nice trip to run it in.
