Hi Everyone!
Great site you have here! I own a 1969 Mach 1 with a 351w, 4-speed and a shaker hood. My car is about 95% restored and I’m hoping to enjoy it a little more this season. Last fall, just before taking it to storage for the winter, the heater core started leaking. I picked up the car yesterday and the old core is out… Not fun! I’m sure I’ll have a lot of questions when I put the car back together so I want to thank you in advance for your help. I’m looking forward to spending time in your site and getting to know some of you.

Regards,
Bob

Welcome Bob, I'm sure you will enjoy this forum, lots of friendly people here. Very nice looking car. When we put ours back together I didn't hook up the heater hoses as we don't drive it in cold weather. I replaced the core once back in the days it was a daily driver, not fun. We enjoy driveing it on special occasions and to shows.

Hi Bob and welcome. What a stunning car!! Sign0175 +1 on the heater core job. There are only two jobs you really don't want to do 1) Rear crank oil seal and 2) Heater core. These days I take lots of pictures and use food pots to keep clusters of bolts and screws together.

SSig_welcome4 very nice 69' Mach1. Yeah the heater core is a large pain in the Azz. But it's totally doable. Take pictures before and during disassembly, they will come in handy along the way. Good luck ask any and all questions, and we'll help all we can. JTS 71 Mach1

Welcome Bob,

When jobs like heater core replacement start to get a bit heavy just step back a few feet from the car. The smile will return with gobs of enthusiasm!

Very nice car.

Wow I mean just WOW that's a absolutely beautiful car. It's what I consider the quintessential MACH1 and just the right color with just the right options. Take your time on the heater core it's really not that bad of a job. I usually remove the passengers seat to give me room to work. Sign0175Sign0175Sign0175Thumbup

Welcome to the site Bob! If I had to buy a Mach 1 today, I am thinking a car just like yours would be one I would be interested in. I like everything about it, the color, the shaker and 4 speed...nice car!

Out of curiosity, what open ends make up the unrestored 5% balance on the car?
