Check out this pic of the two key switches. The old one I pulled out looked fine except the retaining pin was destroyed. I don't see that being the problem but I alson don't know how it could have gotten in such bad shape. Done a visual on the ignition switch and it looked fine. Put the new key switch in and it did nothing. What now?

The lock cylinder you installed, goes into a gear which when turned pushes a rod (along top of the column) down and slides the actual ignition switch. Mounted to the column about where it meets the dash. Could be the gear is broken or the rod has slipped out. Remove the covers off the column, top and bottom find the rod. Then turn the key on and off to see if the rod moves, if it does then look where the rod hooks into the slide switch/ ignition switch and see if it is moving the switch. Make sure if it moves, it is making contact with the contacts/ wires, check at connector with a volt meter. This should tell you if power is going thru the switch. Keep trying, you'll find it. I've checked the ignition switch itself but have not checked the connector under the switch with a meter. The rod is connected and the switch seems to be functioning normally. I've got to get this fixed, Sunday was a perfect day to drive.
