My Next Plan
#1
Is to buy one of these in England and ship it out to me.
Gotta find the finance and maybe a joint owner but its a plan.
9 UK tons empty; 6t land load; 3t water load; 2600lb winch; 2t crane; 6.7ltr Rolls Royce straight 8; 5 x 2 gear box - 6wheel drive. 40mph road 10mph water. About 12mpg on a good day.

Some of the pot-holes can be a bit tricky (LOL). Saw these in action when I was a teenager (that dates me). Thought they were really cool then and never really got over it. They are center steer so do not need any conversion. The Canadian Army had them too. There is a video on You Tube of one being driven into a lake far too fast. Not the way I would treat any vehicle I owned. Search 'Stalwart'.

Evidently they are quite buoyant. It looks like he was at the max speed of 40 mph!

It also looks like it took the driver a bit of time to recover from the "splash".

Yep, hope he was wearing a 4-point! Those things float with a 3t load and will carry 6t on land. Haul 10t in addition. With the crane, useful and fun.
A bloke I work with (ex Brit Army) told a tale of a man who went AWOL from France and started back across the English Channel. Got half way and ran out of fuel. The genius failed to notice that the 1t load he took with him was fuel!! He could have refueled on the spot and made it over!! That was 1977.

Yeah, armies all over the world get cross about that. Even crosser if you 'liberate' a vehicle as you leave.
