Greetings all--

Just stumbled onto the site and am really excited to join. I bought my 1973 about a year ago and she really needs a lot of work. To be honest I really haven't done a lot to it because the scope of work is a bit intimidating. I hope to find ideas, advice, motivation, and friends here. I would post a pic but the system keeps telling me the file size is too large. IDK, it was taken with a regular smart phone? I was unable to successfully compress it.

It is yellow but I bought it with a black repaint vision. Although, many of the finished yellow ones I am seeing here look good. I may have to rethink that plan.

I look forward to interacting with you all.

Welcome to the site David! I am sure you will find ideas, advice, motivation, and friends here. I agree, a project car can be intimidating to tackle. Instead of looking at the project in its entirety, which can be very overwhelming, a good approach is to set attainable goals and tackle small sections at a time.

You got my vote on a black repaint! Very classy color but hard to keep clean!

Hi and welcome, David.

I found the (a) way to reduce picture size is in MS Paint. I posted the instructions for that somewhere here. You have to reduce the % of pixels, not % of size.

Good advise from MustangMike! Set small goals and before you know it things shape up!
Heres a pic of mine from day 1. I will be posting a lot of pics in the restoration section soon, hopefully they give you some ideas of how to tackle things. Ask out loud, there are a lot of voices here who are all like minded.

Welcome David,

You have been given some very good advice on how to progress with your car.

How long have you had your eye on purchasing a Mach 1?

As an owner of a originally medium yellow Mach 1, I am partial to yellow but it is hard to argue with Mike's black fastback.

Keep us posted as to your progress.

Welcome! Ask away - we're here to help. The good news is that these are relatively simple cars. By the time you're done with your project you will have learned a lot and you might even surprise yourself at how the things that looked "impossible" when you started the project now just look "difficult".

That picture of Pete's car shows where the rust is hiding in all of those "rust-free" cars BTW.

I have to agree it does seem like a daunting task but I think the best way to proceed is to aim small. One panel at a time if you try to go big it can get really overwhelming and that's when most people give up.
