Hello people I'm just starting out on a new project so thought id join up, hopefully there will be plenty of tips and info to help me out as i certainly need it.

1973 mach 1 originally metallic green but seen plenty of action over the years and many different colours and finishes (most not so good) imported from nevada needs a lot of work mostly bodywork but boot/trunk floor and both footwells need replacing

Welcome Sam - great to have you here with us!

How long has the Mach 1 been yours? Have you had the desire to own a Mach 1 for some time?

We will be glad to help.

Thanks for the kind words gents, I'll try and get some pictures up later, up until now I've only really worked on British motors starting with a mini then a land rover defender followed by a land rover series 2a so I'm a American car newbie, I choose the mustang as it's up there in my dream garage (well the original fastback) but until the lottery win this will have to do.

plan is grabber green with the mach 1 black bits and then hopefully the addition of the wing, chin spoiler, twin tailpipes and perhaps the rear screen louvres to hide the scratched glass and expensive replacement costs.
but that is a long way off first plan of action is to get some parts to get the motor running its missing the lt lead and some how the heater outlet on the water pump has broken once checked to be running then ill complete the strip down (all the interior is already out due to tracking down a pesky mouse Angry ) and then I'm getting the shell chemical dipped to remove the paint and rust followed by the necessary repairs Pray

Hi Sam, Welcome from an ex-pat now in Perth Western Australia.
Rust no problem out here - too warm to salt the roads. We do share part availability problems though.
Enjoy the end result, of every part of the restoration.

Hi Sam...thanks for posting some photos of your car. The car looks like a good project car and I see a lot potential there. I like the fact the car is relatively complete and you already have a plan of attack for it. Make sure you bag, tag, and take pictures, of all the nuts, bolts, clips, etc. I say this with experience because we think we will remember where they all go 1 or 2 years later....

Please share some more pictures of the restoration as you make progress. I would especially like to see the car after you have it chemically dipped. That is the best way to strip the car and attack any rust. It will also give you nice clean metal for welding.

Look forward to seeing more!!

An amazing project. I would have never guessed that such a project could have been found in the UK.

Has it been in the UK for some time or did you have it imported?

I am looking forward to following your build.
