WOW that car looks great.Eusa_dance

I bought the same colored (70) Mach 1 a few years ago.

I saw your 68 front turn signal lenses installed and it looks great.
The engine does look small in that engine bay. But Id just drive it that way for a while till you get another beefed up and ready to stab in there. Overall I think that it is alot better than the one I got.

The tilt steering columns go for about 400 bucks in an unrestored condition from Colorado Mustang. They are alot of work to restore and not cheap, but I do have a contact of a guy out in California who did mine and its great. I bought the new turn signal switch and mailed him all the stuff. As I remember it was about 450 bucks or so a couple years ago for the refurbishment. I also had to order special Black metallic interior (Mach 1) paint from Ohio Mustang to correctly match the color.

Rim Blow steering wheels go fro about 1,100 to 1,200 bucks for a really good restoration on a steering wheel. The run of the mill back yard restorations go for about $500 bucks on e-bay but trust me they look horrible and the wood grain doesnt match at all.... I did one myself at the tune of about 40 hours of my own labor and Ill never do it again. The original rim blow steering wheel makes those cars in my humble opinion. I finally found a ginger wheel that is in perfect original uncracked condition for $550 dollars plus shipping. I still have to send it off to get it restored and the color changed unless someone has a black one they want to trade in the same condition.
Soon you will get tired of a hot interior and decide to go with A/C.
I did it and love it.

Your car will stand out like a torch for all car enthusiasts to come see with that bright yellow color.
Congrats man its awesome to say the least. Awes

Just scoring a Mach 1 is a delight but let alone one that is running and has been cared for so well is an unexpected surprise. I got lucky - plain and simple.

"I saw your 68 front turn signal lenses installed"
I'm not sure what the previous owner's were going for with the side marker turn signals but it seems to be getting cluttered on the sides up front. It still looks ok to me but I might go back to filling it in if I ever do a repaint on the car.

I really love the turn signals in the hood scoop on mine. I'm in the process of making them functional. Just need the light bulbs to arrive. I think I'm going to eventually make my hood scoop functional - not sure how but I want to make it tasteful and professional. I'm picking up a complete 351W motor this weekend and will have it gone through by the local engine shop. Will probably bore it out to get the cylinders round and rework the steel heads, finish it around 9.5:1 so that it can be driven anywhere. I'm not going wild with it but will cam it up a bit.

I had to do a double take on the pic of your car - first off...LOVE the shaker hood - always liked those. We have a '63 ragtop beetle (that we're gonna put up for sale) that has those same stick on doohickeys as what's appears to be on your hood !
Thanks for the heads up on the tilt steering wheel assembly - not sure if I'll go original or upgrade to Flaming River as I'll take this on a road course every now and then.

I'm trying to correct all of the little things that are not original to/on the car.
- Swapped out door sill plates (scuff plates) to new ones. The old ones were painted black.
- Removed the rear wing and painted it flat black (it was gloss black) and adjusted the angle of the wing to something more acceptable and not cartoon-ish like it was.
- Installed the wiring loom & bulbs for the hood turn signal indicators. The factory harness had the plug in for it ready to go so it was easy-peasy.
- Installed the correct engine designators on the hood scoop, the previous badge said "COBRA" (yes, I know it's not the same motor as what is in the car at the moment but at least I put it back to what it was originally.) I just picked up a 351W that I will be rebuilding over the winter and hopefully will drop into it next summer so then it'll have a 351 in it (just not the correct Cleveland).
- Painted the intake scoop grille chrome. It was looking weathered and now it looks nice and shiny again.

The previous owner must have loved yellow because the lettering on the Mach 1 sides were filled in with it. I painted over the lettering with black then used a 120 grit flapper wheel to buzz off the paint down to the aluminum, then I sealed it with clear.

Well.... I didn't want to jinx it so I waited until I took possession of this beauty! Snagged it only 10 minutes from my house too. Craigslist score. It's a complete car that was taken apart years ago and a slow resto had been started on it. A very solid pan and body with all of the metal work done. It was in assembly phase when the owner lost interest in it.
