I just found the site and joined. I have a basket case 69 that is going back together as original as I can make it. The small items
such as clips and proper bolts seem to be the toughest to locate info on.
I'm better with a wrench than a computer (read old guy). I'll be reading up to get an idea what's already been discussed.
The name is Jim and I'm in northern Indiana.
PS, I like the spell check.

Welcome Jim,
You can blame the spell check on me - I need it in any language.
They reproduce about every nut and bolt for the 69. Try Don Witt at Ohio Mustang Supply and see if he has the goodies you are missing.
Glad to have you with us.

Welcome Jim! As you can already tell there are a bunch of great guys here willing to help out. So tell us more about your 69 and where you plan on starting. Don't hesitate to post some pictures. I am sure most of our cars have started out as basket cases at one point or another.

Thanks for the welcome(s). The car is a 69 Gt 500. 428 drag pac car.
The story is a friend told me about the car in 1982. He had just rebuild the motor (he has a machine shop) for the owner, but the owner decided to sell it rather than put it back together. I looked at it but passed on the purchase due to the wife being pregnant with our first. About 5 years later I was talking about the cars we wished we had bought with the service manager at the local Ford dealership- who I had become friends with, when he told about looking at a Shelby for his boss. The boss wasn't interested so the service manager bought it. When he described the location, I finished the sentence " it was in a semi trailer north of town". We both knew it was the same car. He had it for about 20 years until he slid it off the road and decided to go through the entire car. Stripped it totally, replaced a quarter and drivers floor, had it repainted and stopped.
His wife was pregnant with their first.
As soon as I found out he had the car, I told him I wanted first shot should he ever sell. I asked him every time I saw him. Last year he said he was never going to get to it. We made the deal. I got a garage full of parts and no instruction manual on how it goes back together.
Today was brake lines. New stainless lines came with the car. I got the rear done, but need the clips and hairpins to attach. I tried to do the parking brake cables. Found I was missing the left rear and the front cable won't go in because the hole was not re-drilled when the floor sheet metal was replaced. So for my first question, how far over from the sub frame rail and what size is the parking brake cable hole?
Thanks,
Jim

Wow....when you said you had a 69 basket case I had no idea it was going to be a 1969 Shelby let alone one optioned with a drag pac. You the man!!
I don't know the answer to your question but I am sure the answer is out there. Thank you for sharing the story behind your purchase! Now you got me more excited to see pictures!

Great story! A second chance.
I do not know the answer to your specific question either.
Bob Harlan has a 69 and is a regular. He should be along with help just any time now.

Welcome to the club. I do have a 69 Mach 1 (noy a 428) and the barking brake cables are there. May take a couple days (have a lot on my plate this week) but I'll see if I can get some measurements and a picture or two for you.
