Hi everyone.
I'm new here. I'm currently on the Space Coast of Florida, 30 minutes south of NASA. I don't yet own a mach 1 but am very interested in finding a 1971, either red, black or grabber blue. My engine preferences are as follows (of course these are organized big to small):
J code 429 v8 375 horsepower (4v carburetor) Cobra Jet RamAir
C code 429 v8 370 horsepower (4v carburetor) Cobra Jet
R code 351 V8 330 horsepower (4v carburetor) Boss 351
Q code 351 v8 285 horsepower (4v carburetor) Ram Air
M code 351 v8 280 horsepower (4v carburetor) Cobra Jet
I'll probably be ready to purchase within 12 months, due to my job situation. I'll start my search Florida wide for the sake of convenience, but will also be willing to travel anywhere within the lower 48.

Welcome to the club and good luck on your search. I'm sure if anyone here knows of a 71 they will let you know.

Welcome to the club! Happy hunting. These cars are out there but you'll be best served by being selective. M-code 1970 - 300 h.p.
1971 - 285 h.p.
Q-code 1971 - 266 h.p.
(Same as '72-'73 C.J.)
No change in factory h.p. ratings w/ram-air.
351 C.J.'s were 1972 and 1973. Q-code 71's are very scarce,
only produced after April, 1971, just before start of '72 production.

Welcome.
The 71-73's are still much easier to come up with and pay for than the 69-70's.
There are some good contacts here for Florida. As your opportunity draws closer let us know what to keep an eye out for.
In the meantime: jump on in and learn.

from Arkansas, I find several on Craig's list. Ebay also has several, although Ebay has gotten kinda silly about what one should be worth, especially since you have to go by pictures and not much else. Good Luck with your search. Keep us posted we'll help anyway we can. JTS 71 Mach1

Also, 71 429s are 370 for CJ (with or[/i] without Ram-Air) and 375 for SCJs (again, with or without Ram-Air), Ford has some confusing and contradictory info out there about this, but Ram-Air does not add any rated horsepower to an engine (in 71) simply because the engine was rated on a stand, not installed in a car. They were being fed all the air they could handle anyway.
