Hi from Tucson Az
#1
Ive been a Ford person for many yrs and have always owned
a couple cool Fords and Mercurys since high school.
In the last 13 or so yrs Ive been using my shop to buy and sell
cool classic cars from all makes and models, just for the love
of cars (and to pay bills of course..)

I bought a 78 King Cobra a few weeks ago and just sold
it on ebay, and yesterday I was driving around and spotted
this white hatchback tucked in between a house and a wall
way behind a brick/ wrought iron front wall.
I backed up after I passed it, it was almost dark out.
I had been on a bad part of town looking at an 81 Supra..
I passed on it but drove around the neighborhood as I
always do looking for the next find.
This white hatch had the markings of a Mach, but I had to
go in and check it out more to be sure.
Brought it home today. ...needs restoration but its a nice rust
free Az car and should be running in a few days.

    pics soon to come. :)

Welcome to the site from Virginia! Post up some more pics. Great to see some interest in saving the Mustang II's.

in 78 I was 14 and my stepdad worked for a Ford dealership
in Houston..
although the Muscle Car era had officially ended by then, it
was nice to see Ford and a few other manufacturers keep
the dream alive for future generations. They wherent awesome
cars like their predecessors but they still gave at least people
what they wanted with what they could work with at the time.
I remember when the 79 Fox body came out...it was like the
light at the end of the tunnel and the 80s for all manufacturers
tried hard and did pretty well for the next generation.

this is one of the best parts...
and its the last yr for the Mach until the 2000s...

So what are your plans?

As an original Phoenix DSO car it should be rust free. Does it still run the factory 2.8 V-6 and the C-4 auto?

Keep us posted with the progress!

it was originally sold here in Tucson..
dents, but no real rust to worry about.
after I get it cleaned up and running, not sure
what Im going to do next with it. Alot of cars
I sell on ebay to go on with bigger and better lives.
I have about 6 cars Im saving already, its hard to
keep them all., but if I can save a few thats good too.
Its the original v6 yes...[Image: m4.jpg]
Dirty,...but there.
odometer only shows 89k I think it was, could be original
miles too.

Talk about a coincidence, I went to a coworker's house today for lunch and he showed me a picture of his 77 Mach 1 he bought brand new. As you can see, it was modified (traction bars/hood scoop) but I thought it would give you some cool ideas what you could do with your car. I told him his traction bars look a little low but he said they only look that way because the picture was taken in a field. I wasn't going to argue (LOL).

The picture was taken in a field that is now owned/operated by Tweed Airport in New Haven for those who may be familiar with the area.

cleaned it up some..
the motor turns out was rebuilt about 10k miles ago..
and the oil in it looks like new..
For sitting for such a long time the motor sounds good
and the trans shifts fine.
Still need to install the gas tank.

I feel better just saving another car from getting
crushed, I cant keep them all but its good to know
when I sell it, it will find a better home then one
we found it sitting around..
So, I had to put it on ebay tonite..some more pics
will be up by Thur nite in the auction.
Maybe someone here on the forums can get it.
