#11
Love watching the build on this car. This work is certainly not for the week-end warrior! Keep up the good work!

The dual sump gas tank will be a very interesting development and I imagine quite a handling improvement for the car.

Yep - ducks guts!

Thanks Steven,
Yep, the 120litres (~120kg or 260lbs) inside the wheel base will have a huge impact on handling, especially with oversteer retrieval as the pendulum effect is reduced. Strangely it will have a negative impact on the front/rear weight split, but we are removing so much weight from the front that we estimate we will still have a ~50/50 weight split.
Pete (the builder you met) is hoping we will get the weight down to 1250kg (2750lbs) fully fueled but without passengers. That is a target, but I am not so sure. Whatever weight it is, it will be inside the wheelbase and that will be an incredible improvement.
When are you coming over again? Make sure you tie it in with a race. Late April/early May!

Thanks very much. Its funny how we actually do feel like weekend warriors! I have followed many builds on this site and find myself incredibly daunted by the amazing builds that are on here. Doing a resto to original (or close) is a whole different process to what we are doing.
But then I look at our friends who are helping and I realise how lucky we are to have such a great group of people helping - all without a cent (dime??) of payment.

I'd like to thank them here.

Warren - Mechanic and our 'crew chief'
Pete - Auto engineer, engine builder, welder
Steve - Welder, spray painter, backyard mechanic
Matt - Auto electrician, mechanic (handy qualifications!)
Dad (Ian) - Research, legwork, helping hand everywhere
Myself (Pete) - Carbon Fiber, research, helping hand

If anyone out there would like some more details of what we are doing, feel free to let us know. We are more than happy to pass on detailed information about what we are doing. This is a project of friends that are happy to share the passion and information.

I'd come back in a skinny minute BUT ... life etc.

Definitely have to make my plans to coincide with the rally and would be happy to lend a hand if possible. Both Ezra and my daughter Abigail are Targa Tasmania enthusiast and would jump at the chance to participate.

At the moment we have to live vicariously through you all and Junior. These updates really flame the spark!
