Hi-- not an owner...yet, but I've got my eye on a 71 Grabber Green Mach 1, but the price is a bit high right now $29000! It's a fully restored 4 speed "Q" code, supposedly rare for 71? (less than 100?).

Welcome to the club! Would this be your first Mustang? If so, it's a pretty awesome start! Same here, I am not too familiar with the actual rarity of this particular car but I found a link to some general information that might be helpful to you.

Thanks for the link, pretty good info in there. Technically it won't be my first mustang, my first car was a 1974 Mustang II (if that counts). Currently my daily is a modded 99 Grand Prix GTP but I'm looking for an older Mustang to keep as a family heirloom, handing it off to my kids. I'm glad that it looks like the 71-73's are starting to climb in value, I only wish it happened after I got one!

That looks nice and 71 Q codes are rare
The Q code replaced the hi compression M code in late 71
There were 42 fastback 4 speed Q codes and 66 automatics
I think that color code is I = bright lime
Grabber green paint code was Z but I think it was darker
Get a Marti report as it will list all the info for you.
Good luck Don

Does being a "Q code" increase it's value being rare or lower it for being lower compression?

Buy it for your own personal love! If your looking at it as an investment that might be tough.

Welcome.
Very nice car.
A "M" or "Q" code would be about the same value wise. Either lime or grabber green would also help in the vehicle's inherent value.
As stated by Don, the Marti report will tell you what you need to know from a "rarity" standpoint.
Sure it should become an heirloom for the family but as Joe commented, buy it for the love of it.
And, yes - a 74 Mustang II counts.

A '71 "Q" code car is rare, but the bright lime paint is not especially rare when compared to production numbers of other colors - it's just more popular with enthusiasts - as is grabber blue, bright red and grabber green.
