I HAVE CARS INSURED THROUGH HAGERTY. THE NICE THING ABOUT THEM IS THEY WILL COME TO AN AGREED PRICE FOR WHAT THE VEHICLE IS WORTH AND I THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY FAIR. THEY WILL ALSO LET YOU UP THAT AGREED PRICE WHICH REFLECTS HOW MUCH YOUR PREMIUM GOES UP.

Read the fine print of the policies regarding what they will cover for when the car is being operated. Haggerty was very specific in their policy regarding the car only being driven to and from car shows for the coverage. Heacock and Grundy from my research have a little more flexability in their definition of when the car will be covered. I periodically drive one of my cars to work that is covered under a stated value policy and this is permitted by the policy terms. Just a little information to consider.

I use them for my 2012 Shelby under "exotic insurance" with an agreed value of 70000. It costs me 1025 a year, I get 4500 miles per year. Not a big deal for me, but I have 2 other Mustangs.

Does My Vehicle Qualify?

American Collectors Insurance offers customers outstanding protection at affordable rates. To be considered for our program*, collector vehicles must:

Be driven on a limited basis, and not as a daily driver.
Not be used for racing or timed events
Be kept in an enclosed, locked garage (alternate garaging options may be available, e.g. carports within gated communities and common garages)

Belong in one of the following categories (listed alphabetically):

Antique & Classic Cars
Antique & Classic Motorcycles
Antique & Classic Trucks
Antique Tractors
Custom Cars & Trucks
Exotics & Modern limited-production Classics
Hot Rods
Jeeps
Kits & Replica Cars
Military Vehicles
Muscle Cars
Restorods
Street Rods
Vehicles undergoing active restoration

If you don't see your vehicle listed above, please contact us at 1-800-360-2277, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. EST & Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST

I use Hagerty myself. They offer a restoration package where the insured value increases as the restoration progresses. Kind of cool.

Second, as Black Jade noted above, insurance companies generally only insure a vehicle on the value of what a car is worth...not sentimental value. Point being, get a policy with an agreed value.
