"Newby" saying Hello!

Hello All!
I'm Freddy, checking in from Wisconsin-I just bought a 71' 429SCJ 4 speed Drag Pack car and I couldn't be happier! I drove a 72' 351 H.O. Mach 1 all through high school and college and found a real Drag Pack car 20 miles from my house and I HAD to have it. She's rough, rusty, missing a ton of parts, but I love it. I have a question for the forum-when is the date cutoff for the trunklid inspection hole that appears under trunk latches after 1971? Apparently in mid 71' Ford service departments had issues accessing the trunk latch mechanism and Ford responded by stamping a rectangular port directly under the latch....My car has a December 19th build date and I might have the wrong trunklid...Any info would be appreciated/Thanks!

Not sure of the exact date of the changeover, but the trunklids with thd slot / externally attached lock clips were basically a 72-73 detail. Your 12/70 build date suggests to me youfs should not have the slot.

Welcome to the site.

Great find and evidently the right person (you) found it. It will be great to follow your build.

Kit has owned his 429 Mach 1 since new and knows it inside and out. Someone with an "exact" date may come along.

I do not know.
