Slip sliding away...

My 72 Mach 1 has a factory traction loc rear end. It came with 3.25 gears but has been changed to 3.75 (or is it 3.71?) anyway it does not have the coveted Detroit Locker. Is it necessary or at all useful to use rear-end gear lube with traction modifiers? The rear-end currently in my car "whines" a bit (but then so do I), it is most noticeable at low speeds (below 35 m.p.h.). My mechanic adjusted the crush sleeve (pinion depth) as far as it would go. That helped quite a bit but I wondered if special gear lube would help even more. Could it do any damage? I plan on rebuilding the entire third member next year, I suspect it's just got a lot of wear. The previous owner switched the third member out with one out of a bronco, a cheap way to get the ratio he wanted. It definitely still has a traction loc (I could show you the burn-out aftermath). I had some fun on a local country road.
I appreciate any and all feedback, be it negative, positive or just to say "Keith, you're a real dumb ass".
Thanks,
Keith

KEITH, YOU ARE A REAL DUMB ASS 578254 SORRY THAT MADE ME LAUGH OR LOL. YOU DO NEED AT LEAST 1 BOTTLE OF FRICTION MODIFIER IN THAT REAR AXLE WHEN YOU CHANGE THE FLUID. BUT HAVING WORKED IN PARTS STORES MOST PEOPLE WOULD USUALLY ADD 2 FOR HELP WITH THE WHINE.
