putting on doors
#11
Thank you Don. I saw your website after I messaged you. I registered to your website for future orders. Now I want to tell you about my project. I was able too get my door put on. Not an easy job for one person, would suggest having a partner. So what I did too make it easy for me was. I used a floor jack , block of wood and a pinch of flexible seam caulk to hold the back plate in place. I was able too hang the door in about 10 minutes by using the caulk. Pryor to that I had spent about 90 minutes. Thanks again for the help guys.

Q for the group - am putting on a new drivers side door on my 71' Mach 1...do I need to remove the fender to do this?  Thanks for any advice.

You can, as it will make getting to the bolts easier. That being said it's impossible to correctly line up the door. Without the fender, as it has to match the body lines on the fender, as well as the gap, between the door, and fender itself. If the fender is original, and never been off. I'd do it with the fender on, and work a little harder, getting at the bolts. Now if the fender has been off, I might put the door on. Then install the fender, and work the gaps together. I guess it depends on how far it's been taken apart. I've actually never pulled a fender, just to install a door. Hope it helps.

Thanks JTS...I pulled a fender on my first car (68 charger) and had lots of bolts and nuts left over - oops LOL.  Since the door has to be painted anyway I might just have the body shop mess with it.  Thanks for replying.

Sounds like having the body shop take care of it could be a good idea. Good Luck.
