... hello guys , this may be a really stupid question, but i'm wondering if there is 2 different hoods for 71'-73' (NASA) & (Mach I) hoods ??? ...
... if so, do they require different "Scoops" ?? ... not just the screen inserts, but actual ram air scoops themselves ??? ...
... i apoligize if this seems like a dumb question, but i'm not an expert on this particular year of Mustang ...

Well there is only one style Mach1 hood. The difference is that there is a ram air option. Which has a sheetmetal plenum underneath that directs air from the scoops directly to the air cleaner. Other then the plenum which fastens to the underside of the hood and the open scoop inserts, the hood it's self is the same for all three years. JTS 71 Mach1

I did not know that? what were they, plastic? I was never lucky enough to have one. And they look like metal??? JTS 71 Mach1

sort of looks like fiberglass - you see the strands
acts like plastic
I think it was the same material used for fan specialty shrouds 428
429, couple of others
They had a cast in logo - Barnum Bros Fibre Co
Stuff gets brittle with age.
