My 1st Mustang was a 72 sprint, sportsroof. From the factory it came with a 351 2v, FMX auto, & a 3.00/1 open rearend. It was upgraded with a dual plane Offenhouser intake Holley 600 vac. secondaries, and Dual exhaust. As a teenager it "felt" fast. The low seat position added to the effect. By 1979 when I got the car, their were only a handful of 1960s performance cars in town. Me & my friends marked off a 1/4 mile on a straight stretch of black-top outside of town. We used a stop-watch and timed our cars. None of this was exact by any means. My car ran 1 of the best times at 16.0/94 m.p.h.
I now own a 72 Mach 1 351cj equipped with 4spd. 3.75/1 rear trac-loc. It also has been rebuilt with flat top pistons, hotter than factory cam, Edlebrock performer with a 625 c.f.m. Carter Competion carb.,a HEI, and it's balanced. It feels really strong, I hope eventually to get it into the high 14s. What improvements would you suggest?
Thanks & Happy Holidays to all,
Keith
