After much searching and posting questions on these forums I finally bought a 1970 Mach 1 in Calypso Coral. So first wanted to say thank you to the other forum members for answering numerous questions and looking at various cars for me. I'll try to post as much information of everything involved that I think might help others.
I live in California and bought the car from a gentleman in Georgia. I had a friend of mine look at it first, and then an appraiser. If anyone needs an appraiser from the Southeast send me a PM and I'll give you his info. His rates are very reasonable and I was very satisfied with his inspection. He also works with a local mechanic that can do a full mechanical inspection if you so desire.
Then I used Intercity Lines (http://www.intercitylines.com/) to transport the car. It cost me $1895 for an enclosed trailer. A husband and wife team were assigned to transport my car and they were great. They wrap all the cars, the trucks are really nice and they called several times to set up a day and time for the pickup and dropoff. They weren't the cheapest I could find but I think they money was well spent. And just for anyone's curiosity the cheapest I could find was $1590, and that company had some pretty bad reviews.
The car has a 351W with 4-bbl Edelbrock carb. Nothing else too fancy, just a nice quality Mach 1. It's going to be my semi-daily driver (3-5 times per week) so I need to do a bit of work to get it running perfectly. Tonight on my way home it overheated to the point of smoking and spraying coolant everywhere so I need to figure that out first. It has a fan with the shroud so I'm not sure why it's overheating so quickly. Perhaps the radiator needs to be replaced.
If anyone wants to know the price send me a PM. I'm always happy to help others out but also don't want the whole world to know what I paid. :) And now for the pictures...b/c I know that's what everyone really wants to see. :)
