My story starts around 5th grade, or there abouts, but I will go back to that in a minute.
I'm guessing I was around 15 as I was not quite in High School yet. The HS aged girl across the street was being dropped off at home by a guy in a Mach 1. The first I had ever seen. Maybe to impress her, or the 5 boys checking out his car from the curb, the guy left some impresses amounts of rubber on the newly redone street. I was hooked. More by the Sport Roof and overall look of the car. The power was quite nice too!
There is now a mall in Milpitas, CA. That is where the "San Jose" Ford plant actually was. I know because somewhere around the 5th grade is when I went there on a field trip with school.
My first car was a 64-1/2 Mustang. For only one month, before I even had my license. 1988, my step dad bought for me for $1,000. Then a month later after I drove it ONCE, he sold it for $1,000. To this day he is the only person I have ever punched in the face. Years later, but that's a different story. :-)
Fast forward-
I just won a project 1970 Mach 1 on EBAY. I should have it here is San Jose from Alabama in a few weeks.
I will take lots of pictures and make a book on the build.
It is being named Debbie after my mother who passed away March of this year.
Thanks for staying to the end of my story,
Zac
