1971 Mustang Mach 1 Fastback 429 SCJ
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $70,000

Documented with Deluxe Marti Report as 1 of 531 429 SCJ 1971 Mach 1 cars produced. Grabber Blue. Being an original California car, it is totally rust-free and has never had any metal work performed over the life of the car. It underwent a partial restoration in 1993 with a repaint of the original Grabber Blue paint by Custom Auto Center in St. Louis. The original engine was rebuilt to exact factory specifications. The engine compartment was also restored using all NOS Autolite parts by SEMO Mustang. The interior is completely original with only the dash pad and carpeting being replaced. Several local and regional shows were attended over the next few years, resulting in numerous First and Second Place trophies including Second place in two Mustang Club of America regional shows. The car was also featured in the June 1994 issue of "Mustang Monthly". The engine compartment and undercarriage underwent restoration and detailing again in 2007 by SEMO Mustang. A Deluxe Marti Report is available which documents the original equipment and options delivered from the factory for this vehicle. It is a matching numbers car and is only 1 of 531 Mach 1 cars ever produced with the 429 SCJ engine with an even more limited number having a 4-speed transmission. 1971 was the last year the Mustang could be ordered with the legendary big block Cobra Jet engine. This vehicle has arguably one of the highest performance drivetrains offered in the first generation of classic Mustangs. The 429 SCJ engine, available only with the Drag Pack option, 4-speed transmission with Hurst shifter and 4.11 Detroit locker rear axle make it a very rare combination. This Mach 1, complete with full documentation, originality and full option list, make it truly an investment quality car.

Great looking Mach!

Not to be picky, but the door speaker should have a black perforated face plate behind the louvers so you cant' see the speaker. Should be an easy fix.

I'm very impressed nice very original looking car. The speakers really didn't bother me. I have door speakers on mine and the original ford speaker still in them. I don't know if they look like that or not. Beautiful car anyway. I could never part with it regardless of the money. But that's me. They're going to have to pry my cold dead fingers from the round hurst shifter knob before they get my car.Angry
