New / Old Wheels
#1

A while back I posted, looking for some old aluminum slots. Well I have found the ones for the rear 15"x10". They were old and dirty but several hours of cleaning, rubbing, and buffing have got them looking decent. I called my pal the Agri/shop teacher. Unfortunately his lathe will only take a 12" diameter piece not the 15 or so inches of my wheels. As that would make sanding out the pits and polishing them a breeze. Instead I had to do it the hard way. But they look good enough for now. I just have to pull the new tires, off the old Cragars, and put them on the new/old rims. That may have to wait a few days as it has been over 100 degrees Angry for the last couple of days and I just can't take the heat like I used to. Oh well at least I'm Making some progress. It looks as though they cleaned up relatively well.

Are you looking for 15X8's for the front?

Yeah I definetly need some for the front. 15"x8"s would be just perfect. I will probably pick them up on Ebay, if I can't find a pair locally. A pair is usually fairly cheap as compared to a set. And the narrower wheel is also usually cheaper. Hopefully I will find some locally. After all my looking, all over Arkansas. I got these from one of my pals across town, that is a Chevy Lover, go figure he had a pair for a Ford. Confused I gave him $100.00 for the 15"x10"s. And I saw pair just like them go for $360.00 on Ebay, so I'm looking local.

Just curious, I don't recall every seeing holes in the edge of rims, what are they for? Looks that would interfere with the beads of the tires seating.

I'm going to guess that they are for screwing the tires to the rims to impede tire rotation on the rim while under extreme acceleration and low tire pressure for better tire contact.Gears

Just guessing.

You are 100% correct. Obviously these were used on a street / strip car. Thats ok the holes won't hurt anything, and who knows Gears I just may need them! JTS 71 Mach1

Those are 'Poor Man Beadlocks.' Off-Roaders do that all the time (usually with steel wheels, though) because they 'air down' the tires to 5-6 psi to help flex/conform to the rocks for increased traction.

They shouldn't create any problems with the new tires.
