Wowzers! I let this one go for entirely too long again.
OK, let's see... since I last updated, I felt bad about the rear axle being left so nasty, so I restored it with new bearings, seals, and paint. Also threw in a set of brake lines, fuel lines, and a Holley Black electric fuel pump. I've also been able to get the interior somewhat under control in the way of seam sealing, painting with Rust Bullet Black Shell, installing RAAMat (cheaper than Dynamat), a Classic Auto Air Perfect Fit HVAC system, power steering pump & plumbing, alternator, and cleaned up and installed the power disc brakes, calipers & pads (this past weekend).
The shifter is from the '89 5.0 GT I scored the AOD from - I'll probably swap it out for a B&M Megashifter though... it doesn't look like it's going to work well with the factory full center console:
This was pretty much the condition of my starting point for this whole project. After cleaning, 'blasting, and hammering these pieces back into something more resembling the right shape, I'm glad to be able to re-use a lot of the things that came off the car over 2 years ago:
This coming weekend I'll be finishing up the brake system (booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve, & pedal assembly), and hopefully getting the radiator, hoses, and fan shroud installed. Maybe even have some time to see if the original wiring harness is still good - if it is, I might even be ready to fire it up next weekend if all goes well (and the annual Goodfellow AFB Car Show doesn't take too much work time away).
