Dylans 1972 mach 1

I will be using this thread to share pictures and information as i do stuff with the car. I will start off with how i got the car.
In 1999 my cousin asked my dad to go with him to look at a mustang he was thinking about getting so my dad went with him to look at it, upon inspection it was a really solid car with decent options (power windows, rear window defrost, fold down rear seats, the triple gauges in the dash,) after looking it over my dad decied that he was buying it not my cousin lol, the 302 wouldnt stat at the guys house so we towed it home. After getting it home we got it running and drove it around a bit. My dad had a 351c and c6 out of a 72 mach1 that had been sitting for the past 20 years and decided it was time to freshen it up and put it in our car. when i ten or eleven my dad and I put the engine and transmission in the car and got it running. for a while my dad would do burnouts and have fun with the car for a year or two when he parked it in the garage to not touch it for years. occasionally i would bug him enough to go and start it up and go for a ride in it cause being a younger boy it was awesome to do those kinda things with my dad.
then i got to high school i had grew to be really fond of the car and what me and my dad had started to do a few years back i guess my intrest in the old mach payed off because when i graduated in 2010 he gave the car to me with another $1000 in parts for it, i got a new front fender, grill, core support, and all the engine bay panels, and new front an rear valances. i still need to pull the engine and replace the panels but that will be for this fall. ok so now for a few pics i will be taking and adding more as i go along thanks for any coments/criticism.

Great story and even a better graduation present. Hopefully you and your dad will continue to work on it together and make some great memories. Do you plan on keeping the blackout on the roof and trunk? Looks like someone added that as a continuation of the NASA Hood blackout.

Cool story, cool car and cool dad! Car looks real solid. Personally, I always liked white muscle cars... and I think the black-out your dad added on the roof and deck lid along with the side stripes really make the car look tough.

Excellant Mach 1! I love that it is part of a legacy from your Dad. As time goes by (and it does so very quickly) those memories will be more & more cherished. I also love the HUGE rear tires, do they bite the fenderwell when you hit bumps? hopefully not. In High School I had a 72 sprint sportsroof, I put 15x10 reverse offset slots on the back with j-60 scat-trac tires. The look was in back then (1978-1980) but the tires didn't clear when I hit bumps. So I had to keep the air-shocks maxed out. Lol, Man I loved that car. But now I've got a 72 Mach 1 and once again in love. Anyway I really like your car!
Good luck,
Keith
