Drive Shaft Yoke

I'm assuming. UNLESS, motor mounts, tranny mounts or something else was changed which affected the geometry of the drive line. I have had a "lot" of movement there on some of the cars I've put together in the past as well, with no vibration and no leaking from the seal either. Just letting people know some of the stuff I have ran across over the years.....the amount of movement is difficult to know without being there, it's all relative to the observer.

It's quite possible rotating it 180 deg won't help a bit......but it sure doesn't take long to find out! Rolleyes

You got that right , I will do that tonite. Won't take 20 min to do , nothing to lose so why not try .

i have been a balance tech for 2 years and unbalance will tear things up.i wish i had a end drive balancing machine here at the workplace then i think i could balance drive shaft assbly,s. I have recently balanced yokes, cant balance drive shafts,i know of a place in Howell NJ called Mr driveshaft i am sure he balances asslby,s as he makes custom drive shafts.BUT if your yolk is worn get another it takes next to nothing in eccentricity to make unbalance.

Well we found what the vibration was , I had a cracked fly wheel and a bad torque converter. It took some trouble shooting but we nailed it finaly.

Good deal! You never lose till you give up! Your hard work has paid off. Now you know what parts aren't broke, all the ones you already checked. JTS 71 Mach1

That had to take some digging but think of all the potential trouble you saved yourself for the persistence.

YES IT WAS NICE TO FIND THE PROBELM . iT BUMS ME THOUGH , i BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE TRANSMISSION BEING INSTALLED LAYING ON OUR BACKS WITH ONLY A COUPLE FEET OF WORKING ROOMS. WE MUST HAVE HAD THE ALIGNMENT WRONG AND IN THE PROCESS DID THIS DAMAGE . LIKE I MADE MENTIONED EARLIER , THIS VIBRATION WAS NOT THERE BEFORE THE TRANNY AND ENGINE REMOVAL , SO WE CONCLUDED THIS WAS WERE THE VIBRATION WAS COMMING FROM. i GOT THIS ALL TYPED UP BEFORE I SAW EVERYTHING WAS IN CAPS ( SORRY ) I never use caps to talk .

Well , I spoke just a little to soon. But most of the vibration is gone . There is still a slight noticable vibration between 5- - 60 and then nothing from 60 mph and above. The weird thing is some times there is no vibration at all and then it come back for a long period of time and then if it sits for just awhile when you first take off to 50 - 60 it runs smooth and then starts vibrating once again.
This is really bumming me out. It's got to be some where from the tail sec of tranny to rear u-joint. I will track this down soon i hope !
My biggest probem is every time I want to test drive it , I have to load it on the trailer to get it to a paved rd 5 mile away . I am thinking of just having the transmission shop deal with this issue.
