Well, as noted in my previous threads, I'm in the middle of a repair job on my 72 Mach 1 351c cj. What started out as a simple switch over to HEI., has since snowballed into a complete rebuild. The block is at the machine shop getting a cylinder sleeved plus hot tanking, magna flux, cam bearings etc. The cam shaft lobes were worn so I ordered a new cam, headers & timing chain (& gears). The engine already has an Edlebrock high-rise intake and carb. I really hope I picked out a good grind for the new cam, it is listed as;
"Lopey idle, low-mid rpm power. Great camshaft upgrade for a stock engine"
hydraulic flat tappet
Basic Operating RPM Range 1,800-5,200
Duration at 050 inch Lift 216 int./216 exh.
Advertised Duration 272 int./272 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.524
Lobe Separation (degrees) 110
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.524 in.
The stock pistons are not being replaced (except for the one from the bad cylinder. I'm also installing a crank kit.
Anyones thought , criticisms, or other input is welcome.
