There is a plug at the back of your dash panel.
Many times its just the top clip has broken off a tab on the top of the harnes plug.
Check it out and see if its still pluged in.

Sometimes when I'm driving my 72', my speedometer light goes out. Is this the same problem, or will I need to take apart my dash to fix it?

I think it all happend after i installed my custom autosound radio. I "accidently" grounded the blue wire wich gave light to the original radio
Bulbs work because i buypassed the light switch, only thing is they will stay on all the time:), i also connected the blue wire from the radio harness to the ignition switch and they would come on.
Using a testlight on the fusebox shows its ok when i pull the switch without fuse. Put new fuse in, pull light switch and the test light glows.
I put a wire between the lower fuse to the interior light fuse and the interior lights will come on.
Every other lights on the car works perfect, all gauges are good, but my dash lights wont come on when i activate my light switch.

I don't even know if the light switch has a dimmer application or not - sorry my car doesn't run - but if so, is your dimmer switch turned up?
Someone who knows can help my ignorance here.

Steven may be on the right track. The headlight switch will dim and turn the dash lights off. Could be a bad headlight switch. I think I've replaced mine on my 73 convert about 3 times since the 70's.

Sounds like it could be the headlight switch. If i turn mine the lights on dash go out but if i hit that sweet spot they stay on. Yeah i really need to change that switch

I don't know if you can open the switch but if you can you could bend the contact that touches the variable resistor to see if you can get better contact or maybe the resistor has gone open circuit so that once you go past the break it doesn't make the circuit any more.

Problem solved, they are now working!
I really dont know what did it, but i guess a combination of correct installation of the radio, good ground and new fuses did it
