I need a carburetor, distributor (plugs, wires etc.), alternator, starter and all the sending units for the motor. The FMX is ready to be attached. I have a bunch of engine compartment accessories to sand blast and paint. (I am building a get-me-by sandblasting cabinet - started today). I need to paint from the shock towers forward.
Of course the biggest problem is not being with the car. I get visiting rights about once every two months for about four or five hours. Otherwise it would go a lot quicker but I can't complain - I have a Mach 1! It'll all come together eventually.
I need to take my 351C off the engine stand so that I can pull the 2.9 in my daughter's Ranger to put new seals and gaskets on it. She will be taking it to college this fall in North Dakota and I want it to be "new"
So ... I had to put the 351C somewhere and "on the floor" is not good enough. We reside in Mexico and I can't just run down to Harbor Freight and buy another stand so here was my solution. I am also working on a "get-me-by" sandblasting cabinet.
Those pics remind me of when I did the last rebuild back in 1984.It was the second time it had to be rebuilt. The wing nut on top of breather came off and the threaded thing a majig came loose and dropped on top of #8 piston(cracked the block) so we sleeved that block and bored it 40 over to take some of the taper out of the cindler. That makes two sleeves I now have in my block. Me and my Chilton book did the last rebuilt,I took the block and heads to a machinest back Dalton,Ga. I have been thinking about a overhaul, but why?If it ain't broke don't fix it.but I 've only put 30,000 miles on it since 1984.It now has 170,000 miles on it now.

I'd have to agree with if it's not broke don't fix it with the 40 over. And wow, 170,000 miles! I love to hear of cars that are being driven.
Still don't have the measurements you need for the windshield rearview mirror?
Last time I was out I took measurements on mine but the pictures were dark. 25" from side (I believe) and 8" down. This is not a factory windshield but the button came factory mounted on the new windshield.
Slow on posting as this actually happen the day after Thanksgiving.
I was able to spend the day in Arizona and spend some quality time with the Mach 1.
So the motor and the FMX transmission are back in the car. I was also able to put the steering column, pedal assembly and brake booster back in the car. The pedal assembly is now a clutch assembly http://mach1club.com/showthread.php?tid=4929 waiting for the standard transmission.
