floor pans
rear frame rails by shackles
bottom inside seam of the doors
shock towers
front frame rails

I think the Boss clone is the better looking of the two. It will not retain it's value as a Mach 1 because after all it is "just" a fastback with fancy paint and that will wear.
Let's start with "fair price" Hopefully someone else will weigh in on this because I am out of my area of expertise on this. I don't deal with this class of cars as I am a buy to rebuild and never sell guy. I would say he's about ten grand too high and that is if you really like the car. Of course - price is what the market (your wallet) will bear.
His answers to your questions reveal that he is not on top of his game with this car. For the money he is asking or even the money that I would suggest paying he needs to be able to answer your questions with specifics ie.. a Holley 650 CFM, vacuum secondaries, electric choke etc.
For that money you need to know specifics on the motor. What year block, what type of heads, cam, bore size, how many miles since rebuild, estimated horsepower... As well as some specifics on the transmission, stall, shift kit, etc...
Whether the back seat folds down or not is a basic knowledge. From the pictures it appears to be a stationary seat. Definitely something I would be able to answer on any car I was selling.
Panel replacement would be a big decision factor as well as the quality of preparation for the paint. Bad work will show in short time and you will have another ten grand (minimum) to put into your car or loose fifteen grand trying to move it. His answer sounds like don't ask don't tell. "I'm not looking so that I don't have to lie to you." You can be sure they have climbed in and out before they ever thought about purchasing it.
I guess the salesman's very broad and evasive answers makes me more apprehensive than I was when I first saw the pictures. What is he trying to hide because if they are asking that much for the car shouldn't they be more than willing to prove it's worth?
Sorry for sounding negative. I really do like the car but - buyer beware.
Okay - my $.02 worth.

Excellent advice guys. Thank you very much. I have a friend who's dad (a mechanic) lives near the car. I'm going to see if he can take some time to go check it out for me. I asked the salesmen some of these more in-depth questions and he suggested having someone come look at it. I think you're right in that he doesn't know many details about the vehicle. I'm also seeing if he can put me in touch with the previous owner who should have more info on the car.
I had previously also been looking at this Mach 1:

It's another one with Boss stripes (must be a fad or something). It isn't in as good a condition as the fastback but it's got a lower price tag of $19,850. There are also a lot more pictures and a video. I talked to the dealer briefly about this car about a month ago. He doesn't know the original color of the car and said the floor pan isn't terrible (the description says it's "soft") but could be replaced.

I agree... if someone is selling a clone car for that much cash, they better have more then some pretty stickers on it. You should not have to twist someone's arm to get any info. when they have that high of a price. New Built engine w/specs, New trans specs. new rear, real panels, ect. Remember... it's a Clone!! Good Luck in your search.
