It's unfortunate that the registration was so difficult. Two image captcha's that I kept getting wrong because they are difficult to read even after refreshing.

Then it didn't like my e-mail address.

Then of course I had to re-enter my password after each of those fails.

Then I'm told I must post something within 72 hours, else be deleted. I like to lurk for awhile, if that's ok. It gives me a sense of who's who on the board, the culture, etc. I mean, at least open the boards to be read-only so that I can decide if it's worth joining or not.

And after all that hassle, I'm not surprised to see only ~5 posts per day on here. I think it's unfortunate, because the effort to avoid spammers is likely turning away many legitimate contributors. I'm in my early 30's, but I know many mustang enthustiasts with a ton of good knowledge are older folks who aren't as computer savvy. If this was a hassle for me, I can only imagine how much trouble they have.

How's this for a first post? Sorry, I wanted this to come across as helpful feedback, but the whole process annoyed me so much that this will likely just get me deleted. Crazy

Welcome Mike,

So you made it anyway - way to persevere! I am actually not aware of all the hurdles required to jump to get on board as I have been here long enough to have avoided them. I know that our administrator had to make some changes because of some severe hacker problems we had a while back.

Anyway, glad to have you with us. So, what's your Mach 1 story? Do you have one or are you looking to find one? Now that your here, feel free to share some of your story and pictures if you have some.

Again, Welcome.

Maybe it was just a bad night. :)

My story is fairly short. I've always had a passion for mustangs, Mach 1's in particular. I have a 69 Sportsroof that is about to be restored (likely as a Mach 1 clone). Eventually I may have an original Mach 1, but that is out of budget for now.

My father in law has a couple 72's (Mach 1 & a Sprint), along with a 70 Mach 1. We're working together on restoring mine. So basically I'm looking to learn lots over the next few years (well for many years, probably).

I have no doubt there are a bunch of good, knowledgeable people here.

I just wondered if maybe the forum was a bit too restrictive and therefore limiting the amount of participation from outsiders/new members/guests. 5-10 posts a day isn't much, imo.

Mike I am sure you have a valid point on the restrictiveness limiting some access. We went a couple of months without the site due to hackers so until a better manner of protecting the board comes along at least we have it!

It sounds like you have two good reasons (the cars and the daughter) to have a good relationship with your father-in-law. Nothing wrong with a sports roof as a clone or as a stand alone. I debated buying a 69 sports roof when I bought my current 73 Mach 1. The sports roof needed a lot more work so I went Mach 1. I love the 69 style but I like the 71/73 just that much more.

Feel free to share more, show us some pictures of the collection and ask any questions that may come up. I imagine though that your father-in-law could share some help with us.

Great to have you here.

Welcome to the site from Virginia.

As Steven is, I too am one of the earlier members and I don't recall having the current requirements for registration. As far as image captcha's, I hate those on any site. I always have trouble entering the correct code.

In regards to the number of posts per day, this site has a limited member base since it is targeted for Mach 1's. There is a lot of good info here and not so many posts that it is too hard to keep up with them all.

One thing that Joe (Mach1Club) offers that I don't see on many sites is the toll free number that is prominently displayed at the top of the web page to help with any registration or web site issues.

Maybe Joe can provide some numbers as too how many prospective members are rejected if they do not post in three days. He use to post those numbers on occasion, but I don't think it was very many.

Joe and my fellow moderators appear to be doing a great job catching spammers quickly and removing their posts so the content here stays on track.

I think you will also find the members here very cordial and accommodating to help answer or find the correct answer to help out. I don't recall seeing any replies to anyone saying to "search the threads first" before asking a question. So no such thing as a dumb question here.

Anyway it sounds like you have some great Mustang heritage in the family and looking forward to seeing pics and hearing more about your 69 and would also like to hear more about and see pics of your in-laws Mustangs.

We have a separate forum topic for other Mustangs.

By the way, I'm a little older fart than Steven but can find my way around a computer fairly well, but I agree there are some old timer Mustang enthusiasts that did not have the opportunity to work with computers much over the years.

Yup. Very excited to get to work on it. I find myself spending many hours just searching for parts online. Once the '72 is completed, the '69 goes into the shop next. So I have a few months to continue finding and restoring parts.

I'll post some pictures when I get some on this computer.
