Hi from canada, I have a 69 mustang I am doing complete rotisserie restore. I have discovered many little problems along the way. I have built a very nice 393 stroker, C6 with 2500 stall, and a 325 posi rear end. I have the numbers matching motor and trans on pallet all stored for future . The car was restored poorly, so I decided to rebuild it. It was a sport roof 1 of 53 mach 1 clone. looked great until you got close to details was featured in mustang monthly by the last owner.
Now the front end was hit and poorly repaired, so i removed the rad support and the 2 front aprons. The shock towers were repaired with a 4 inch piece of 1/4 inch steel support another poor quality job ..but worked well, has brand new front end and camber is perfect. So i cleaned it all up and was going to leave the towers as all would be hid by motor anyway.
Tonight I put the motor in to dry fit before i painted engine compartment and install new aprons and rad support. low and behold i do not have the clearance for my headers with these welded plates over the shock towers.....SO here is my question. how difficult is it to replace the whole side apron? Tony D Branda has them for about $600 per side. The worry I have is getting everything lined up right. I do not have a frame rack and am not a body man. Is it easy to get the motor mounts and the front end to all line up. is there a link that gives step by step? how major is this? Thanks for any help.
