Hey guys, I might be forced to sell my 71 mach 1. I was wondering if you guys could give me some input on what you think it is worth. I know the market is down now and im gonna take a beating on it but i'd like to get an idea of how much a beating. It was originally a 302 car but is now a 351c with 2v heads. I have owned it for about 6 years and have done just about everything to it other than the front brake swap. Has drum now but I have a power disc setup from a 72 for it in the garage. Car has new paint, wheels , tires, interior, floor pans, trunk pan, motor completely rebuilt about 1500 miles ago, has edelbrock intake, 750 holley double pumper carb, msd pro billet dist, 6al box, harland sharp roller rockers, comp cam, tranny also rebuilt at time of motor with b&m parts and shift kit new valve body and 3000 stall converter, also new rear end 8.8 ford with 373 gears posi and disc brakes. Car is really nice and runs and drives great but its not perfect. Paint has few chips and stuff in it like any driver should but it is a pretty nice car overall. Please give me any input you guys may have and any questions you might have. All input is greatly appriciated. Thanks Kevin

Hope its not medical caused.

Great looking Mach, sorry your thinking about selling it. As you said the market is bad now. I watched the Mechum auto auction last weekend and saw a beautiful Red 73 Mach 1 sell at $15,250 and a great yellow 71 sell for $16,500. The 71 was a 7 time Mustang Club of America Gold Winner. The 73 was a highly detailed rottisserie restoration. Sounds like they gave them away for the condition they were in.
You can check the links below, but you may have to sign up for free membership to see them. The maybe you can come up with a price for yours.
Hopefully you can keep the Mach, but if not good luck with the sale.

Do everything possible not to sell your Mach 1 if you really love it. Ive said it already it is the single biggest mistake in my life selling mine. I do understand financial times sometimes the toys have to go, I was there. I was so worried about debt that I knew I just had to liquidate everything possible to not be cash poor. If I could of just handled the stress for 8 more months there was light at the end of that tunnel, but the Mach was already gone.
Your Mach is sweet looking and everything as you say has been done. With that thought in mind Id say the value is 20k plus. But getting that money is tough unless you sell it on consignment somewhere or sell it at auction. Its not that people wont be interested in it, the issue is going to be now they need to have cash. Its tough to get financing for a 71 Mach.
I got 10500 for my 72 Mach 1 and it needed everything, it was 100% original and was a decent looking car from 20 feet.
I'm still in morning over my 72 Mach 1
Make sure you think long and hard before selling it!
It is tough to find another one!!
This picture makes my Mach look so good in this photo, but in reality it needed absolutely everything!

Thanks for the replies everyone. It would be very difficult to part with this car. I have worked really hard on it over the past 6 years. Its not to the point of having to sell yet but if things dont change in the near future, might go that route. A car is easier to replace than a house :) I was hoping 12 to 15 for it. Lord knows i have WAY more than that into it. But thats how it goes. But thanks again guys!

I would hate to see you sell it for less than $15,000 but I don't think you will realistically be able to get more than $12,000 As the auction prices Rare Pony posted show - prices are still way down.
Your right, better to sell a Mach 1 than loose a house but if there was just some other way.
Keep us posted.

Make sure you let us know here if that time comes. I wouldn't sell it for anything less than 17500. However you know the true worth of the quality of its restoration.

Thanks for all the input guys. Hope it dont come to that but atleast i know where to start if i do. The restoration is not professional. I did pretty much everything on the car myself. Only thing sourced out was paint. Thanks again guys
