Some of you may or may not recognize my username from other Mustang forums such as Corral.net, Yellowbullet.com, westsidemustangs.com and others.
I've owned a mustang or two since around 1994 and been racing my old 90 GT since around 1999-2000 or so.
I don't currently own a mach 1 but am considering trading my race car for one, so I thought this might be a good place to get some info if I do trade for it.
I got my old White 90 GT from my grandparents back in 1994 who bought it new in 90. Drove it for many years, then had a wreck in it and then my wife wrecked it, so it gradually turned into a race car. Started out with a stock motor, added gears, nitrous, eventually heads/cam, then tore the motor up and went with a 347 stroker. Ran a couple different 347s and broke two stock roller blocks until around 2007-2008 when I made the switch to a 408ci stroked Windsor. Then had a 427 windsor that ran 10.30s@131 on motor. I wrecked the 90 GT at FFW Oct 2008 at Tx Motorplex.
After the wreck I decided to buy a chassis that was mostly already built, which is where my current 1980 Coupe came from. Got the car with a full cage, mini-tubbed and some decent suspension under it. Swapped out some suspension pieces for my own, dropped my motor and trans in, had it painted and went racing. Car ran the same ET's as the old 90 GT. About a year later I ended up building a Dart blocked 434ci setup with AFR 225s, Supervic Intake, solid roller, and a dominator. Made the switch to a powerglide as well. New motor was built with a 300 hit of nitrous in mind, but still able to run respectable times on motor alone.
So after around two years of racing various events with the coupe I've run a best of 9.80s on motor in 100+ degree heat and have been 5.60s@122 to the 1/8 mile on an .082 nitrous jet in the plate. That would equate to some high 8s in the 1/4 if I ever had the desire to go that fast.
As I grow a bit older now and have more and more kids stuff to do with the family, I don't get to race as often as I used to, hence why I've put the coupe up for sale on various boards and am looking for a street car I can enjoy and that my kids and wife can ride with me and enjoy.
Here's a couple pictures of my coupe...
