Restoration 69 mach 1

Here is a picture of the car as I bought it on Ebay I know at first glance it looks okay, thats what I thought anyway a series of pictures and a short video coupled with the 580 recomadations from other ebay purchasers that bought from this individual perswaded me to make a poor decison and buy this car without going to look at it.Any way I had the car shipped up to Canada and then I found out what the condition really was.Believe me I wasnt a happy camper to say the least.Doors would not open and close ,trany was not working, there was a delco carb on it,mice in the head liner ,paint was full of dust,it goes on and on.So the decision was made to completly restore the car.Which now that I have the paint reapplied I know was the right decision.

Of course I don't know the price but, Yep I would have bought it from that picture. Not faultless but not bad either.

Pictures are very deceiving when it comes to the fine details. Sounds like the seller held a lot out in his description too. Great looking car though and should be worth the full resto.

Here is a picture of the car after I completly dissassembled it.When I say disassmbled I mean completly. All equipment that bolted on to the body was removed. The car was then hoisted and lowered into a tank filled with a liquid which name escapes me now and all soft material was dissolved including paint, seam sealer bondo ect.On the positive side the manager of the shop mentioned that they do approx 20 cars a year and mabye 2 of that number come out of the tank in the condition my car was in. There was zero rust, very little body damage that was reparied with filler. The shocker was that the roof had been replaced at one time but it was a professional job and will be noticable to only a few experts.

Yea the seller did a good job misrepresenting the condition as far as the price I would say that it was close to 12 k over what I believe the car was worth. But I guess thats old news.I have moved on and looking forward for a couple slow months at work this winter so I can concentrate on completion. It is the first time I have restored a car and I find it very interesting and enjoyable so I guess there is a positive to this as well.
